Singapore, 11 September 2025 — Kingston International College (“Kingston”), an EduTrust-certified private education institution, and XCUB-E Pte. Ltd. (“xcube”), a corporate innovation leader, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the shortage of talent in digital transformation and innovation.
The Urgent Need for Talent
Technology is rewriting the rules of business. Artificial Intelligence (AI), Web3, FinTech, and the digital economy are no longer niche areas, they are the backbone of competitiveness and growth. But while adoption is accelerating, the talent pool remains alarmingly thin.
- SMEs are falling behind: In 2023, only 4.2% of SMEs adopted AI, compared to 44% of larger firms, leaving many smaller businesses vulnerable in a high-cost, talent-constrained economy.
- Corporates face execution challenges: Even with resources, over 70% of AI initiatives stall because companies lack professionals who can connect technology with business strategy.
- The global picture is stark: 79% of employers worldwide cannot find enough digital and AI-skilled workers, while professionals with these skills earn a 23% wage premium — clear evidence of demand outpacing supply.
This gap is not just a skills issue; it is a survival issue. Companies that fail to secure and develop the right talent risk being overtaken by competitors who embed continuous innovation into their culture.
The Kingston–xcube Partnership
Through the MOU, Kingston and xcube will close this talent gap by co-developing programs in corporate venturing and emerging technologies, integrating real-world industry projects and mentorship, creating university progression pathways, and focusing on career readiness. The partnership will also drive thought leadership through applied research and case studies to guide enterprises and policymakers.
Voices from the Leaders
“The future of business depends on talent, not just technology,” said Ryan Goh, CEO of Kingston International College. “We have worked closely with leading industry players like xcube to design the curriculum, ensuring that students are not only equipped with the latest knowledge but are trained to take on jobs from day one. This MOU ensures that we are preparing both students and enterprises with the human capital needed to thrive in an era where digital transformation is the lifeline of competitiveness.”
Eelee Lua, Chief of Staff and Director at xcube, added: “With Kingston, we are building structured pathways for individuals and companies to gain the right capabilities. This is about professionalizing corporate venturing, embedding digital innovation into organizations, and ensuring that talent is the engine of sustainable growth.”
